Why We Exist
Development pressure in Worcester County is continuous, and the farms and forests we once took for granted in Spencer and Leicester are disappearing. Most of the open spaces we still see are privately owned, and many are targets for development. If we want our children and grandchildren to enjoy hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, riding and other activities in our woods and open spaces, we need to work together to protect those areas before we miss the chance.
Common Ground Land Trust
As a private, non-profit land trust, Common Ground Land Trust Inc. (CGLT) partners with landowners to protect the remaining forests, farms, and scenic and historic areas of Spencer and Leicester for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. Our goal is to protect our natural resources, at the same time helping landowners find alternative solutions to selling their land for development.
